Meet the Black brothers, or the Black Trio as everyone refers to them; Marlon, Lucas and Shareef. They are the sons of Andre Black, one of the most notorious and dangerous businessmen in the Detroit area.
Marlon, the oldest of the three is following in his father’s shoes. Although, his personal life isn’t as smooth as he’d like for it to be. He and his girlfriend, Tequila have been dating for quite some time now. While she is ready to take things to another level, he isn’t. Will the two of them find a way to work things out or will they go their separate ways?
Lucas is the middle son, also following in his father’s footsteps. Unlike Marlon, Lucas doesn’t have a steady woman in his life. It seems as if all is great, but he’s in need of his own identity, Will Lucas ever be able to step out of Marlon’s shadow?
Shareef is the youngest son of the three and has a brighter future than his brothers. He is a senior in high school and a star basketball player. Although his father wants nothing more than for him to further his education and go to college, he wants to join the family business. Things may just change when Shareef falls for a girl by the name of Ryla. However, Shareef’s friend, Tyler makes it known that Ryla belongs to him. Who will come out on top? Will this cause a detour in his future plans? Will these brothers from the hood live their dreams or will life happen and change them forever?

Wow!! I wanted to scream when turned the page and it ended. What a good read. Love the Black trio!! I like them. I can see the bad stuff isn't over for them. This book has it all it's not your ordinary urban got a lot of depth to it. Well done. Can't wait for pt 2Product details

Wow. I've not ever read a book that was as boring as this. The book started extremely slow and remained slow. There were no WOW moments, laughter or happiness. The book carries a bland undertone. If took entirely took long to read. This was my first read from these two but their reputations precedes them so i expected more. To begin, the cover and title do not go with the story. Because the cover is so graphic, it painted a different story than what the book contained. Editing issues all over the place, things that could've been caught through proofreads. More story development was needed and the very short chapters could've used more details.
The introduction of all the characters was very weak throughout the book. Idk if this book would've read better in third person but the first person perspective did nothing for the plot. And the plot was very boring and the subplots weren't needed. The back story to Liam and Tequila wasn't needed nor her demise. Where this story began about the Black family, it changed into a poorly written short story about Liam's bitterness and Tequila. Too many characters and none of their stories intertwined or helped the plot.
Overall, this wasn't enough to finish the series. This book could use lots of work so hopefully part 2 answers questions.
This book was filled with drama, twists and turns. A real rollercoaster ride. Those Black brothers are the truth. Each one had their own personality. They are not to be played with. I felt so bad for Tequila. Liam needed to be punched in the throat for what he did to her. I was so hurt. Mom was wrong for not telling Marlon. If you are confused about what I am talking about, then you will have to read the book. It's a must read and I am looking forward to part 2.
I love the closeness of the Black family. This story was so good. Marlon, Lucas, and Shareef know who is responsible for these bad acts they just need to stop and think. Sorry Tequila. The twins Ryla and Jazyme have a really good bond. Tyler need to get his mind right. Way to go Lady Lissa and Jacori. I need part 2 asap. Thanks in advance.
I was really disappointed and i guess I've come to expect more from a read by Lady Lissa... the title of this book does Not go with the story line @ all, way too many unnecessary twist & turns that had nothing to do with Nothing... i'm still left wondering where was the connection... the story line just wasn't believable to me... Tyler for example has been teasing Ryla all these yrs & a few months before graduation he decides to pursue a relationship with her, Liam & Tequila (where do I start), the Blacks well known on the streets with all this money (but no power or respect), Shereef brain smart & a great BB player in the 12th grade a few months/ weeks before graduation and he hasn't taken the SAT's or had any scholarship offers, hmmm.... like I said, it just wasn't a believable story line, JMO... although I will not be recommending this one to the ladies in my bookclub. I will read pt 2 just to see if they redeem themselves
Love this story from start to finish, would like to read the mom and dad story waiting on the next part
